Commissioning a painting has never been easier. But for your own peace of mind, before you do anything, read the pages on 'prices', 'FAQ', 'case study', 'deposits' and 'gift certificates'.

The information contained in these pages should answer all you questions. However, if you still have any doubts, please contact me by email at alan@alanreedart.com or by phone on 01988500190.

I always believed that a picture is worth a thousand words, so here is a diagram illustrating the process.

You commission work by making an on--line/telephone application for a painting/sketch, deciding on the medium, size of work and number of subjects. You email/send reference photos to me.

After seeing your reference photos, I make mock-up images to show you how the final painting may look, with different backgrounds, cropped and composed images.
You receive my mock-up images and decide on your choice.   transparent
When you have approved the mockup, payment can be made via the website. Most commissions are paid in full at this stage, though you may wish to make a 50% deposit, the balance to be paid on completion.
You pay in full or make a 50% deposit.
I set up your personal web pages, where you can view a breakdown of the transaction, start and completion dates and view progress images.
You log into your pages to monitor progress.
When the painting is finished a higher definition image is displayed on your web space for final approval.
You approve the painting and make payment of any balance owing.
On receipt the painting is delivered to you using Royal Mail's Special Delivery service. Overseas parcels are sent via International Signed For.

Not ready to proceed just yet? You may wish to sign up for a commission for some future important date, a birthday or anniversary.

If this is the case, then you may wish to commission a work but delay its execution to nearer the time. This would ensure that you are not disappointed because I have work in-hand and cannot do the work. Putting down a 50% deposit would guarantee your place in the queue.

Gift Certificates These are handy as presents, not just for the finished painting. The recipient is involved in the process as part of the experience.
