This commission was for an American lady (Vicki) from West Virginia. It was a fairly large painting 36 x 42 in. as I remember. The image from the reference photo needed to be rotated clockwise by about 10 degrees. As you can see from the sketch, the canvas was squared and the original image scaled up in the traditional way. Jewellery was an important component in this painting. Vicki's necklace was of particular significance - her brother's army service crest. Rings were also important. I received images of these too, so they could be shown to best effect. |
